We are a mere couple months away from the 20th Anniversary of the Reno Tournament of Champions! It is crazy to think the tournament started as a dual team tournament (college) along with the high school tournament. And now it has evolved into what it is today, as a college and high school tournament.
In addition to evolving to a traditional individual and team tournament, we have also made the decision to be an open tournament for our college division, or (even more specifically) any individual that is post high-school can wrestle in our tournament. For those that may be interested please contact us for details.
With all the colleges having their schedules complete we are now looking to add more high schools. So any of you high schools that want to send your team to wrestle against top-notch competition send them to Reno. All you have to do is submit a contract online and then submit it to us.
During the tournament you can follow the results via Track Wrestling as well as Flo Wrestling, too.
Speaking of Flo Wrestling, we cannot thank them enough for coming out to our tournament to video the matches and highlight the semis and finals, too! Additionally, our partnership with the Eldorado and Silver Legacy has helped us negotiate the best rates for the fans, family and teams coming to the tournament.
The promo codes for each hotel are as follows:
Silver Legacy: RTOC14
This year also marks the 20th year that our announcers, Don Blassingame and Lori May, have been doing our tournament. They have been there since the beginning and we can’t thank those two enough for all the time, effort and voices lost (mainly Don) they have given these past 20 years.
Oklahoma State and Easton High have been the two staples since the inception of the tournament. They have won the most tournament titles in their respective divisions and we look forward to seeing them in the tournament every year.
And finally, we are very thankful Ross Aguiar and Jack Dolan wanted to create a tournament that pitted the best in the nation in both high school and college. Twenty years ago they came up with this crazy idea to host a tournament in Reno, Nev., at the livestock arena and now it has grown to what it is today!
As always, should you have any questions at all please let us know!
